VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) is a hardware description language widely used in electronic design automation for describing digital and mixed-signal systems, including field-programmable gate arrays and integrated circuits. It can also function as a general-purpose parallel programming language.

This application utilizes the GHDL simulator, an open-source VHDL compiler available at http://ghdl.free.fr. GHDL is capable of executing nearly any VHDL program; however, it is important to note that GHDL is not a synthesis tool and cannot generate netlists at this point.
